Congratulations to Meitra Perry who has been named High School Counselor of the Year!

Here are some interesting facts about Ms. Perry, including her accomplishments here at LSHS.

--3rd year at Lithia Springs High School as a school counselor

--Received bachelor's degree in psychology in 2009, master's degree in school counseling in 2012, education specialist degree in 2017, and will begin doctorate in counseling this summer (all at the University of West Georgia)

--Spearheaded the first annual LSHS College and Career Signing Day in spring 2017 where students ate and celebrated their future plans including this year's Signing Day Party scheduled for April 24, 2018

--Worked with all of our dual enrollment students at LSHS

--Partnered with the LSHS Art Teacher to create the first Art Purchase Award where senior students can earn scholarship money by having their artwork purchased by LSHS to display

--Encouraged a college-going culture among our Hispanic population, including bringing in 2 guest speakers and arranging 2 Hispanic-focused college tours for 80 students

--Held our first annual Scholarship Day this year, inviting seniors to apply for local scholarships with our department

--Worked with Sweetwater Elementary School to have all of our seniors walk in their cap and gowns through their school building to motivate their elementary school students while praising our students for their accomplishments (May 23, 2018)

--Manuscript published in the 2017-2018 Georgia School Counselor Association Journal in March 2018
