Education

I am a 1999 graduate of Worth County High School in Sylvester, Georgia.  I graduated in 2003 from Georgia Southwestern State University with a Bachelors of Science in History with a minor in Political Science and a Certificate in European Union Studies.  I returned back to Georgia Southwestern State University in 2005 where I became a certified teacher for middle and secondary grades.  I received my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Valdosta State University in 2011 and in 2012 I earned my Specialists Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.

Experience

I completed my student teaching at Americus-Sumter High School in the fall of 2005 where I gained experience teaching 11th grade US History and 12th grade World History.  In the spring of 2006, I completed a long-term sub position at CA Gray Middle School in Moultrie, GA where I got my first taste of middle school- 6th grade social studies to be exact.  I signed a contract with the Crisp County School System in June of 2006 and started teaching at Crisp County Middle School in Cordele, GA, which is known as the Watermelon Capital of the World and Cougar Country.  There I taught 8th grade Georgia Studies for 6 years and then transitioned into teaching 8th grade Gifted Georgia Studies for 2 years.  In the summer of 2014, I transferred to Crisp County High School where I taught 9th Grade Honors Government, World History, and AP World History.  Fall of 2017 is my start with Lithia Springs High School where I will get my first true experience teaching US History, which is a subject I thoroughly enjoy!

Bio

My name is Stephanie Carr and I was raised in Worth County, GA.  I am married to my middle school sweetheart, Keith, and we have two boys- Candler who is 12 and Sawyer who is 8.  As a family we enjoy amusement parks such as Six Flags.  We also enjoy watching movies together, swimming, and taking road trips.  Last summer, my boys took their first road trip where we traveled throughout the midwest and spent some time in Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Indiana.  We particularly loved Chicago and St. Louis!

As for myself, I love to read. I enjoy historical fiction and nonfiction and dystopian novels.  I usually read most of my books during summer break and Christmas break, but I want that to change and am looking for a book club to join in the area.  I also love to travel.  In the summer of 2002, I lived in London, England where I attended school.  While I was there I also visited Scotland and Belgium.  In the summer of 2003, I worked with International Habitat for Humanity in Costa Rica, which was such a rewarding experience.

We are new to the area and have already fallen in love with what it has to offer.  We are excited about the places we will be able to visit and the wonderful people we will get to meet.

I am very excited to be a part of the LIthia Springs High School Family and I know we will have an amazing year!

Go Lions!
